At Catenaro Law, we concentrate solely on matters of Elder Law, Estate Planning, Probate & Estate Litigation in New Jersey, serving clients in Essex, Morris, Passaic, Bergen & Ocean Counties.

We draft wills, trusts, advance directives, healthcare proxies, and powers of attorney. We customize estate plans to meet each client’s unique circumstances and objectives.

We also represent clients in guardianship proceedings. Additionally, we assist executors and administrators in navigating probate & estate administration matters in the County Surrogates’ Courts.

In addition, we protect estates, fiduciaries, and beneficiaries from conflicts that arise after death, potentially leading to litigation or already in litigation.

Joseph Catenaro Jr., Esq. earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2006 and his Bachelors of Arts degree from Muhlenberg College in 2003.

After graduating from Fordham Law, Joe joined Lowenstein Sandler as a litigation associate. He served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Donald J. Volkert, Jr., A.J.S.C., and was also a litigation associate at Chasan Leyner & Lamparello.

Prior to opening his own practice in 2013, Joe served as Assistant Essex County Counsel, where he defended the County of Essex against a variety of claims in both state and federal courts. In that capacity, he also supervised outside counsel in high-profile claims against constitutional officers, including the Essex County Executive, Prosecutor, Sheriff, and Clerk.

Joe is admitted in the State of New Jersey and United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a member of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association & NJ Prosecutors Association.

In addition to his private practice, Joe currently serves as Municipal Prosecutor for the Township of Fairfield and Township of Cedar Grove.

Joseph Catenaro, Jr. earned his juris doctorate degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2006. After graduating, Joe joined the litigation department of Lowenstein Sandler, where he was a member of the construction litigation practice group. Joe served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Donald J. Volkert, Jr., A.J.S.C. He was a litigation associate at Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, where he specialized in public entity civil defense matters. Prior to founding Catenaro Law in 2013, Joe served as an Assistant Essex County Counsel, where he represented the County in both state and federal courts in a wide variety of high-profile claims, including claims of negligent medical treatment and activities at County hospitals and County correctional and detention facilities. Joe is admitted in the State of New Jersey and United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a member of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association.
